Enamel sign 'Kau Tabak - Grimm & Triepel'

Very fine German enamel advertising sign for Kau-Tabak by Grimm & Triepel (Nordhausen, founded in 1849). This sign dates from the early / mid-20th century (approx. 1900–1950) and is executed in thick, multi-layered enamel. The depiction with the iconic figure and tobacco is particularly graphic. The sign is in exceptionally beautiful condition for its age, with a deep gloss and no enamel loss. Only slight traces at the hanging holes and edges, entirely consistent with age and use.
